Project Summary

A portion of the existing building, currently housing a small pro shop, classroom, offices and storage, has recently been renovated and will be saved to the greatest extent possible.  New durable yet sophisticated interior and exterior materials and finishes will be applied to meet the day-to-day functions of the course, support the children’s educational programming and appeal to the sensibilities of The Children’s Course organization and its patrons.

The two new cross-laminated timber structures will house the new learning center multipurpose room and open office programs allowing for the classroom and tech center to grow and to add a conference room and much needed storage and administrative spaces.  The natural beauty inherent the renewable and sustainable wood panels that make up these volumes will be expressed on the interior while the exterior will be clad in sleek metal panel.  Opening to the views over the course toward the Willamette River the ends of these volumes are punctuated with expansive storefront windows maximizing daylight in the spaces.

Program details are as follows:

  • New Learning Center with Kitchenette, Storage and Accessible Restroom (1,372 SF)

The large multi-purpose space will host children’s group activities and instruction, golf swing simulator and large meetings and events.

  • Renovated Classroom and Tech Center (470 SF)

With soft, playful, mobile furniture options and an abundance of natural light with views over the course the space is light and bright providing a comfortable, healthy environment for mentoring, homework and general instruction in a space.

  • Renovated Pro Shop and Pro Desk (461 SF)

Expanded, dedicated space for the retail functions of the course.

  • New Conference room, Private and Open Offices (956 SF)

These administrative spaces are designed to foster an open and inviting atmosphere while supporting the daily operations of the course.  Flexibility and connectivity are key to the plan configuration and adjacencies maximizing communication and functional efficiencies for the staff.

"The Learning Center will provide the ability to reach more kids, more often, in a safe environment. More kids can learn lessons for life—and have fun while they are doing it."
